Our focus on business development.
In 2010, Competitive Wisconsin made a major difference. We sponsored the BE BOLD Wisconsin Study, which provided the foundation for a number of important economic development and business climate recommendations, including the revamping of the Department of Commerce and the creation of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
We also provided leadership and support for the Wisconsin Economic Summit Series, which built on the BE BOLD Wisconsin Study to create the Wisconsin Prosperity Strategy, a comprehensive economic strategy that is already helping policy maker identify new ways to address Wisconsin’s economic challenges and opportunities.
In 2011, as we celebrate our 30th anniversary our activities will continue and flourish:
- We have the goal—250,000 new jobs
- We have the strategic vision—BE BOLD: The Wisconsin Prosperity Strategy
- We have an action plan:
- Continue to work toward the implementation of the BE BOLD: Wisconsin Prosperity Strategy recommendations, with emphasis on creating more capital for entrepreneurial, start up and growth companies
- Support policies that demonstrate that Wisconsin is “Open for Business,” including our first privately funded economic development marketing campaign—Wis4Biz
- Provide independent, credible economic growth and job creation metrics by supporting the Wisconsin Institute for Economic Research at Marquette University
- Work with Wisconsin businesses to ensure the formation of effective Cluster Councils
- Provide expanded and enhanced programming designed to engage and empower our members.
