Competitive Wisconsin, Inc. recently released BE BOLD 2: Growing Wisconsin’s Talent Pool, the results of a year-long examination of the state’s jobs skills challenges and opportunities prompted by growing concerns about existing skill gaps and the effects an aging workforce will have on employer ability to meet future needs. The study was undertaken in partnership with the globally renowned talent development and acquisition strategist, ManpowerGroup. A copy of the study is available at: http://www.competitivewi.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/BeBold2_Study_October2012.pdf
Competitive Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Higher Education Business Roundtable and select sponsors have launched the 2012 Wisconsin Economic series and will conduct three economic summits around the state. The 2012 Wisconsin Economic Summit Series will bring together leaders from business, labor, education and organizations from around the state for a half day of prestigious speakers, substantive presentations and conversations, and will build on the data collected by the BE BOLD 2 Study. The Be Bold 1 study and 2010 Wisconsin Economic Summit Series helped develop, inform and prompt significant changes in Wisconsin’s economic development policies, and we believe that the BE BOLD 2 study and 2012 Wisconsin Economic Summit Series can provide the same leadership and impetus for the critical talent development and acquisition strategies Wisconsin needs and will also serve as the focal point for Executive and Legislative briefings in 2013.
Summits will be held in the Waukesha, Eau Claire, Milwaukee and Madison areas. The second summit, Powering Wisconsin’s Future with Information and Technology, will follow in the Eau Claire area on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, and is being hosted by the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Corporation and the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire.
